Hiking Safely

Hiking is a great way to see nature and get away from the daily grind. Getting out in nature is one of the best way to see nature at its finest, but there are some things you should always prepare for, of course that will all depend on the nature of your next adventure. Always no matter the trip weather is a day trip or a long overnight hike, there are a few precautions and essentials you should always have with you.

Comfortable hiking boots. you wont want to skimp on this, a good pair of boots is Necessary.

Comfortable and weather appropriate clothing.

Small pack with some essentials in them, a light Pancho, a whistle, and a compass.

Also you should keep well hydrated, so bring along plenty of water.

I personally always have a water filter straw, even on short hikes, you never know what can happen, this item is very light and doesn’t take up a lot of room in your day pack.

I have been asked why I always have a compass, with GPS and all that is available. I love my GPS and use it all the time, however, they can break, run out of battery etc.. A compass will keep you headed in the direction you need. I strongly suggest, if you aren’t already, you become proficient in the use of a compass, it could save your life.

Keep safe, have fun and enjoy the great outdoors.
