Your Go-To Blanket

While camping, especially in the summer, staying warm and dry is sometimes very difficult. Even if you have a tent or are staying in a cabin, when the humidity reaches a certain point, and the night air gets colder, sleeping can be difficult.

While on one of my first camping trips I remember that it rained. And while I was safe and dry in my tent, I remember I had one of the most miserable nights of my life due to how cold it was. Now, this was in the middle of the summer and wasn’t by any means cold outside, but the humidity made everything clammy and made it nearly impossible to stay warm.

I went camping again a few years later, and one of the people I went camping with had a military surplus blanket. They explained to me that this blanket was designed to stay warm even when it got wet.

The blanket pictured above is a standard medical blanket that they would use in the military. This is the same type of blanket my friend and they swore would keep out the cold, damp night air. So, if you are camping in the rainy season and hate the thought of sleeping in a cold, wet tent, try investing in a blanket designed to withstand the elements.

Do you have any “can’t camp without” items?
