Hurricane Readiness

Hurricane Readiness

The best way to prepare for a hurricane is before the storm season starts. If you are preparing for a storm once it has been named and is predicted to impact your area, you are already too late.

This week we are doing a series on how to prepare for a hurricane. In this week long guide, we will detail how to best prepare for a storm, how to find the escape routes in your area, and how to find hurricane shelters if the storm reaches above a category three.

Earlier this week, The National Weather Company raised its forecasted storm predictions from 15 to 17 named storms this season with four of these storms expected to reach a category three or higher. With the tropical Atlantic surface temperature on the rise and the likelihood of storm formation increasing, it is important to know what steps your family needs to take in preparation to ride out a storm or evacuate the area.

Start thinking of how you and your family would handle any natural disaster. Do you think you would be able to live comfortably for a week without a reliable source of food, water or power?

Let us know in the comments below any tips you would like to see in this series.

Happy Sunday!
